Title: Phenology surveys, 1929 - 2016, Adirondack Long-Term Ecological Monitoring Program Project No. 8 by Adirondack Ecological Center of the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Newcomb, New York. Environmental Data Initiative
Alternate Identifier:DOI PLACE HOLDER
Abstract:

The objective is to provide data to enhance research projects in the central Adirondacks and also to document changes and trends in species phenology (timing of events) and relate to weather and other events. Many phenological events have been measured since 1929 untill 2016.

Methods and Protocols

These methods, instrumentation and/or protocols apply to all data in this dataset:

Methods and protocols used in the collection of this data package
Description:

Plants surveyed annually since 1990, with scattered records for trees in the general Huntington Wildlife Forest (HWF) location prior to 1990. Plant relates to a map (some species are surveyed in multiple locations; most are a single plant or a group of plants at one site).

Treat Poor and None as same category until 2003, in some yearly reports, Dick Sage wrote Poor and then had nothing this year or no berries found. In other reports (1999-2000), Poor and None are separate categories. In 1998: Scarlet elderberry was ""Poor/Good"" which then weighted as a Fair (median value).

Unkn may mean that species wasn't sampled at all that year, or that no information was collected on that species. Especially in beginning of study (1990-92), several species were not yet included. In 1996, tree seeds were collected as well by Dick from several trees around HWF.

1929-1939 seed tree data are for the Wanakena region, compiled from USFS Northeastern Forest Experiment Station reports
