Methods and protocols used in the collection of this data package
Description:

From July 2017-July 2019, bird and bat recordings were taken in Sagehen Experimental Forest. The dataset consists of daily 30 minute recordings to capture bird audio, in addition to automatic bat audio triggers. Sites were serviced periodically. The dataset contains both raw data and processed (filtered) data that was screened to reduce the size of the dataset for computational efficiency. Processing was conducted in the following manner: audiofiles were screened using the free version of the Kaleidoscope (R) software by dividing each recording into 2 second fragments and filtering out sounds that were not within the 1-192 kHz frequency range, had a pulse range outside of 1-1000ms, or which had an inter-syllable gap of more than 500 ms. Contiguous post-filtered files were then stitched together to enable more efficient data use.
