Abstract:	High-frequency sensor data from a Sontek IQ (every 10 minutes) in a recovery reach at White Clay Creek from October 2013 through February 2021 and a Decagon CTD (every 5 minutes) in a recovery reach at White Clay Creek from January 2014 through May 2021. Funded by NSF and DEB as part of the LTREB grant to study the recovery of stream ecosystem structure and function during reforestation, Stroud Water Research Center. The parameter in this data package is water temperature. Data are presented in four tables which likely have significant overlap. The raw data tables present the data exactly as it was downloaded from the Aquarius Database. It is formatted as a "wide" human-readable table. Water Temperature at White Clay Creek Site WCC017 since 2013 IQ and Water Temperature at White Clay Creek Site WCC017 since 2014 Decagon CTD presents only the data from the respective sensors. These tables are gap filled for intervals greater than 10 minutes (CTD) or 20 minutes (IQ) and less than 24 hours, formatted as a "wide" human-readable table. All of the parameters and table are further explained in the metadata.

Methods and protocols used in the collection of this data package

Description:	Decagon CTD – Measures Specific Conductance, Water Temperature and Depth. A reading is taken every 5 minutes. Data downloaded directly from sonde (Download frequency is variable). Monitoring site visits are typically weekly, with manual cleaning of the sensor as needed.

Description:	Sontek IQ - Measures physical parameters of the stream (depth, velocity, pressure). These parameters are used to calculate discharge and section area of the stream. A reading is taken every 10 minutes.

Abstract:

Stream restoration in the United States is a multibillion-dollar industry. Yet long-term monitoring of its effectiveness is virtually nonexistent. Stroud Center scientists are studying restoration within White Clay Creek that involves the reforestation of meadows or pastures with native deciduous trees and the removal of invasive plant species. As the planted forest matures, researchers characterize the changes in the aquatic biological communities and their associated activity. Teachers are trained in the use of long-term environmental data as a means to enhance math skills, analytical abilities, and environmental knowledge of both students and teachers.
