General Information
Data Package:
Local Identifier:edi.620.1
Title:The Bear Brook Watershed in Maine, USA: Soil moisture record 2003 - 2016
Alternate Identifier:DOI PLACE HOLDER
Abstract:

This dataset includes soil moisture data for the Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM). The BBWM consists of two watersheds, the reference East Bear (EB), receiving ambient deposition, and the treated West Bear (WB), which received experimental elevated N+S deposition for 27 years. Soil moisture sensors were installed at the site in 2003. Readings were taken every three hours -- three hourly readings and calculated daily averages are reported here.

Methods and protocols used in the collection of this data package
Description:

HOBO™ Micro Station Data Loggers were installed in each of the hardwood and softwood stands and equipped with ECH2O™Smart Sensors. Sensors were installed at depths of 10 cm and 25 cm within the mineral horizon and set to collect moisture readings every three hours. Detailed methods can be found in Fernandez et al. 2007 (https://digitalcommons.library.umaine.edu/aes_techbulletin/1/).
