Campbell Scientific HMP45/50/60 air temperature and relative humidity sensors were installed in Gill 6-plate solar radiation shields at five long-term meteorological stations located in forest clearings beginning during 2011. Data collection at stations 1, 23, and Headquarters (HQ) is ongoing. Station 1 is located at approximately 478 m. a.s.l. on the south-facing slope and RH measurements began on 2011-10-12. Station 23 is located at 668 m. a.s.l. on the north-facing slope and RH measurements began on 2011-06-29. Measurements in the clearing adjacent the Headquarters station (255 m. a.s.l.) began on 2013-07-22.
The HMP sensor at the Headquarters station was originally housed in a Stephenson enclosure and was moved to a six-plate Gill shield on 2016-03-12. The HMP60 sensors were replaced with Campbell Scientific CS215 air temperature and relative humidity sensors in summer 2019 (2016-05-17, 2019-06-14, and 2019-06-15 at Stations 1, 23, and HQ respectively). Each Gill shield was cleaned when the sensor was replaced. The CS215 probe at the headquarters was moved from a 6-plate to an 8-plate Gill shield on 2021-10-28.
15-minute RH measurements were made at two additional stations with HMP45/50/60 sensors from 2011-10-11 through mid-2019, when the stations were decommissioned. Station 6 was located at approximately 732 m. a.s.l. on the south-facing slope and station 14 was located at approximately 732 m. a.s.l. on the south-facing slope.
RH measurements are rounded to the nearest whole percent and missing values are not gap-filled at 15-minute resolution. Coordinates of each sampling location are included in the Geographic metadata and are accurate to within ~10 meters of the relative humidity sensor.
