General Information
Data Package:
Local Identifier:knb-lter-hbr.393.1
Title:Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: Annual measurements on marked northern red oak seedlings, 2014-ongoing
Alternate Identifier:DOI PLACE HOLDER
Abstract:

Marked individual northern red oak seedlings were individually marked and mapped at 20 valleywide transects starting in summer 2011. This data set includes detailed seedling measures starting in summer 2014. The data were used to examine the impact of previous year seedling condition on whether the seedling survived in the next season.

Methods and Protocols

These methods, instrumentation and/or protocols apply to all data in this dataset:

Methods and protocols used in the collection of this data package
Description:

This data set includes detailed seedling measures for marked northern red oak seedlings starting in summer 2014. Every year the same areas (2000 m2) were scanned for any new or previously missed oak seedlings, previously marked seedlings were assessed for their status (live, dead) and detailed data for all new live or marked live seedlings was recorded. In 2014, leaf number was added to vertical height measures. In 2015, leaf damage on a five point scale (0 = less than 5% damage,1= 6-25% damage, 2= 26-50% damage, 3= 51-75% damage and 4 = greater than 75% damage), and a count of both live and dead branches were added. These seedling metrics were recorded for all live seedlings 2015 - ongoing.
