Spatially Distributed Lake Mendota EXO Multi-Parameter Sonde Measurements 2019-2022

General Information
Data Package:
Local Identifier:knb-lter-ntl.428.1
Title:Spatially Distributed Lake Mendota EXO Multi-Parameter Sonde Measurements 2019-2022
Alternate Identifier:DOI PLACE HOLDER
Abstract:

This data was collected over 34 sampling trips during four summers (May-October), 2019-2022. 35 grid boxes were generated over Lake Mendota. Before each sampling effort, sample point locations were randomized within each grid box. Surface measurements were taken with an EXO multi-parameter sonde at a subset of the 35 grid boxes throughout Lake Mendota during each sampling trip. Measurements include temperature, conductivity, chlorophyll, phycocyanin, turbidity, dissolved organic material, ODO, pH, and pressure.

Methods and Protocols

These methods, instrumentation and/or protocols apply to all data in this dataset:

Methods and protocols used in the collection of this data package
Description:

35 grid boxes are generated over Lake Mendota using R software. Points are then randomly generated within each of the grid boxes prior to each sampling trip. Code used for sample plan generation (SamplePlanGenerator.Rmd) is available at https://github.com/mrwbeal/MendotaRS

Instrument(s):R version 4.2.1
Description:

A YSI EXO Multi-parameter Sonde is used to take water quality measurements of surface waters at each point. Continuous water quality measurements are taken at each point for 2 minutes.

Description:

Data is processed by averaging over the second minute of the continuous sonde measurement at each point. Code for this process (Data_cleaning.Rmd) is available at https://github.com/mrwbeal/MendotaRS

Instrument(s):R version 4.2.1
